Last month, another project of lifestyle photography for an Asia’s leading e-cigarette brand (RELX) that I have done. This brand has filed more than 170 patents globally, the largest number of any independent vape company from China.
RELX (pronounced “relax”) is now available in Vietnam through its physical stores and online partners. So, the client wanted to make a series of lifestyle photography to show how Vietnamese mature people will enjoy with the product. Former Uber China Head Kate Wang founded RELX Technology in January 2018. Its products have experienced tremendous success with adult smokers globally, catapulting it to the position of the leading closed-system e-cigarette brand in Asia.
Wang was motivated by her father’s lifelong struggle to quit cigarettes and the lack of suitable new generation products in the market. She took it upon herself to start a company that prioritizes innovation, safety and product quality. Reflecting RELX’s commitment to creating high-quality and safe products, the 170 patents cover a variety of aspects of vape design, spanning vaporising, aesthetic design, e-liquid formulas, electricity management, and more.

From its inception, RELX Technology has conceptualized and put into effect its Guardian Program, a company-wide initiative that stretches from product development to sales. This ensures that the company puts the necessary effort in preventing and discouraging the use of e-cigarettes by minors whether this be through concerted efforts with retailers to step up on-site identification of purchasers.
The photographer is a long-time smoker, who has also used the electronic cigarettes such as VAPE and IQOS before, aiming to replace traditional cigarettes, and gradually stop smoking. However, the price, quality and usage are the barriers that cause my maintenance to fail. Therefore, I hope RELX will keep the product quality as well as their effective design towards the best efficiency and be a useful alternative way for long-term smokers.
